We consider the Falcone Castel del Monte DOCG Riserva Vino Nero di Troia to be a very good wine and all the vintages are surprisingly rich in freshness. It is difficult to find a wine produced in this region that is so fresh, savory and mineral. Nero Troia “Il Falcone” came to life way back in the 1950 harvest when the first Rosso Stravecchio was vinified and lent itself to the name on the label which represents the symbol of the falcon, the bird of prey with which Frederick II loved to hunt. We think that this reserve red wine can rise to the excellence of the great wines of Italy in a few more years, around twelve years after the harvest. Puglia maintains a high reputation for quality/price ratio.

Characteristics of Rivera Il Falcone Riserva wine

The Falcone Castel del Monte DOCG Riserva is an enoic compound with an accentuated consistency such as to dye the glass red as the wine passes through, allowing it to slowly collect inside. Initial vinosity smells, releasing a spiciness of cocoa in the foreground and a deeper hint of liquorice and black cherry in alcohol, overall elegant and excellent quality. Great body and structure, with a fairly soft dry taste, well balanced and the excellent acidity is surprising for an Apulian wine. The tannin is present but pleasant, it improves even more with the passing of the years. The finish: intense return of the black cherry fruit and sensation of bay leaves, without bitter notes, long and very pleasant.
